Paradox girl, mighty woman,

you are the thing that terrifies them.

 

Both monster and maiden, both cure and poison,

all of these things, and at the same time human.

 

Defined by no man, you are your own story,

blazing through the world, turning history into herstory.

 

And when they dare to tell you about

all the things you cannot be,

you smile and tell them,

औरत को क्या चाहिए  ? सबकी मन की उलझन यही, औरत को आखिर क्या चाहिए? ना ताज, ना तख़्त, ना सोने की चाह, बस सम्मान से जीने का हक चाहिए। एक नारी को उसकी गरिमा चाहिए, जो उसके साँसों में बसी पहचान हो, ना नाम से पहले रिश्ते जुड़ें, पहले वो खुद एक इंसान हो। जैसा हक़ जीने का नर को है, वैसा ही अधिकार नारी को चाहिए, अपने फैसलों, अपने सपनों में, उसको भी खुला आसमान चाहिए। ना हर बार त्याग की मूरत बने, ना चुप रहने की सीख दी जाए, वो बोले तो आवाज़ कहलाए, ना हर बात पर शर्म सिखाई जाए। घर की दीवारें उसकी सीमा नहीं, दुनिया भी उसकी अपनी हो, वो माँ भी बने, वो बेटी भी, पर पहले वो खुद की कहानी हो। ना दया, ना एहसान, ना उपकार, बस बराबरी का व्यवहार चाहिए, ना कमज़ोर, ना अबला समझी जाए, उसे भी खुद पर विश्वास चाहिए। जब वो गिरे तो सहारा मिले, जब उठे तो तालियाँ बजे, औरत को बस इतना चाहिए— हर मोड़ पर उसका हक सजे। सबकी मन की उलझन सुलझे तब, जब समाज ये बात समझ पाए, औरत को कुछ ज़्यादा नहीं चाहिए— बस इंसान की तरह जीना आए।

 दुनिया देखती है बस चेहरा तुम्हारा, वो धीरज, वो साहस, वो मुस्कान प्यारी। सबके सवालों का बस एक ही उत्तर, तुम घर की छत भी, तुम ही हो सवारी। थक कर जो टूटे, वो हिम्मत नहीं तुम, जो आँसू बहा दे, वो फुर्सत नहीं तुम। नन्हे से चेहरों की खातिर सँभलना, तुम्हारी ज़रूरत, शिकायत नहीं तुम। मौन का बोझ सीने में अपने एक कोना रखा है, जहाँ यादों का भारी बिछौना रखा है। वो आँसू जो पलकों तक आकर हैं लौटे, उन्हें कल की खातिर पिरोना रखा है। तुम चाहती हो कि बस चीख मारो, थक कर इस दुनिया से खुद को पुकारो। पर जूतों के फीते अभी बाँधने हैं, तुम कैसे ये हिम्मत अभी हार जाओ? कोमलता में छिपी शक्ति मुस्कुराकर पहाड़ों को ढोना भी तुम हो, अंधेरी रातों में एक कोना भी तुम हो। सब कहते हैं तुम फौलाद जैसी बनी हो, पर खुदा जानता है कि 'माँ' ही तो तुम हो। अकेली नहीं हो, तुम खुद में फौज हो, हर मुश्किल का अपनी, तुम ही तो मौज हो। गर आँखें भर आएँ, तो डरना नहीं तुम, तुम अपनी कहानी की असली ओज हो। ​जब थक कर ये दुनिया सो जाती है, तुम्हारी थकान और गहरी हो जाती है। कोई हाथ नहीं जो कंधे को थामे, कोई लफ्ज़ नहीं जो तुम्हें "बस" कह...
